Psalm 100: Enter

Psalm 95:1–7 and Psalm 100 are the two forms of the call to worship used in the daily praise and prayer service of the Episcopal Church (the “daily office”). Here, Psalm 100:

1Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the lands!
2Serve the Lord with gladness!
     Come into his presence with singing!
3Know that the Lord is God!
     It is he that made us, and we are his;
we are his people,
     and the sheep of his pasture.
4Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
     and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him,
     bless his name!
5For the Lord is good;
     his steadfast love endures for ever,
     and his faithfulness to all generations.

Worship in the Anglican tradition, which is represented in the U.S. by the Episcopal Church, is filled with Scripture reading, and in that way it continues the practice of the early church. Psalms are read every day. To see the daily office for today, whatever day it is, go here.
